Account Manager - Energy Efficiency Program / New York | ICF International | Albany, NY

The Energy Efficiency group is a leader in designing and implementing effective and innovative demand side management and climate emissions reduction strategies, including energy efficiency and carbon emissions reduction, demand response, and peak load management. Our thorough understanding of our clients' needs enables us to help energy companies, governments, and commercial clients worldwide to manage energy consumption and peak demand.

To support our growth, we are currently seeking an Account Manager to join our Energy Efficiency group with a service territory approximately Albany to Syracuse and Oswego areas. The Account Manager will promote National Grid's programs for end-user incentives for high efficiency commercial, industrial, and residential space and hot water heating equipment to HVAC distributors and manufacturers representatives in their upstate New York natural gas service territory. The Account Manager will provide training to these market players on the incentive offerings and the benefits to end-users of higher efficiency equipment. The Account Manager will carry out these outreach responsibilities through direct contact with market players (on-site visits) and by providing email, telephone, and other support. The Account Manager will also be responsible for ensuring that market players have sufficient stocks of National Grid outreach brochures, applications, and other collateral material. The Account Manager will be called upon to assist in promoting this equipment (and possibly other equipment) at special events (counter days and other promotions, including retail outlet promotions) and some weekend work will be required.

JOB REQUIREMENTS:
Responsibilities include recruiting program participants, account management, developing and implementing sales strategies, preparing and delivering persuasive presentations, relationship building activities. The ideal candidate will be located in upstate New York and be available to support programs throughout the Northeast. Position will be an on-the-road position. Ability to accommodate business trips on a regular basis is necessary. Candidates will be required to support activities in the following areas: Albany, Syracuse, and Oswego.

Ideal candidates will have knowledge and/or experience in a combination of the following areas: energy efficiency technologies and products (especially energy-efficient gas appliances), HVAC, and marketing or sales.

Key Qualifications:
  • 3+ years of hands on experience in the HVAC industry, preferably in sales, and knowledge of gas-fired space and water heating equipment and controls
  • Experience with natural gas-fired HVAC and water heating equipment is required
  • Sales ability and experience, preferably to or with wholesale suppliers
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Analytical abilities
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications
  • Results-oriented person with excellent time management skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to work independently
  • Ability to travel

Desired Qualifications:
  • Interest or background in energy efficiency and/or environmental management is desired
  • Experience with gas-fired HVAC equipment sales within National Grid's upstate NY natural gas service territory
